Tyre Tread Depth
In the UK and EEC, the legal minimum tyre tread depth for car tyres is 1.6mm.
The tread depth is measured continuously around the circumference of the tyre.
Most car tyres will have small ribs within the tyre grooves to act as tread wear indicatorsso that it is easy to see when a tyre has reached its leagl limit and MUST be replaces
Tyre Tread Patterns are designed to channel water away from the tyre-road contact area and improve road grip when driving in wet conditions.
As the tyre wears, its ability to disperse water is reduced and road safety will be affected.
