EGR Valves
The EGR Valve feeds or recirculates a portion of the exhaust gases back into the ignition chamber via the inlet manifold.
Harmful emissions are reduced by this secondary burning resulting in lower NOX Emissions.
A vacuum system operates the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve (EGR Valve) and allows a controlled volume of gas to mix with air in the intake manifiold so that combustion is slightly slower and cooler for a more complete fuel combustion and reduced emissions
When the EGR Valve is faulty the engine idle will fluctuate or seem "ropey" and you will experience variable acceleration.
Exhaust emissions will probably increase and this may be mis-diagnosed as aa failing catalytic converter.
